PRESSED ON WHITE VINYL '33 KO's at 33 RPM!' J-Zone's fifth drum break library, Concussion Percussion, brings together the individual strong suits of its predecessors for an all-in-one groove blizzard, the NYC drummer's most complete and versatile to date. 33 breaks deep, it's nearly double the size of 2019's Break Bonanza and 2015's Backyard Breaks and just tips the scales over 2018's Guerrilla Drums and the inaugural Lunch Breaks from 2014. After speaking with numerous producers and discovering each had a different favorite, J sat at the drums intent on putting a new spin on the best attributes of each one and throwing in some experimentation. The random commentary and human error of J learning his craft on Lunch Breaks shows up, but so does the eventual precision of Break Bonanza. The rhythmic and tempo experimentation of Guerrilla Drums resurfaces, but the hard-smacking one-two of Backyard Breaks also remains. Then there's stuff unique to Concussion Percussion: free-wheeling mallet grooves, psychedelic ride cymbal effects and the 'something outta nothing' use of crappy coffee beans for quirky snare drum sounds. With Madlib's recent sampling of 'Ode To Sloppy Joe' (from Lunch Breaks) on his single, 'Road of the Lonely Ones,' the super-producer joins Broken Bells, Alchemist, Prince Paul, Marco Polo and countless others who've sampled J-Zone break kits. J has also done studio work for Danger Mouse (Karen O, Michael Kiwanuka), Lord Finesse, Binky Griptite (The Dap-Kings), Show (DITC), Pharoahe Monch, Adrian Quesada (The Black Pumas), DJ Nu-Mark and many more, in addition to his own bands (The Du-Rites, Manzel, The Zone Identity) and his tenure as the tour/studio drummer for soul singer Ben Pirani.
Thought it wasn’t a drum record per se, other producers took note of the next level percussion. Artists called asking J to replay samples and build them custom breaks, Jordan Thorn of Bullyfinger reached out about a potential drum break record, and producers revealed that they had sampled an “open” drum section on Peter Pan Syndrome. When all was said and done, The Drum Broker released his debut drum break record Lunch Breaks in 2014.

Beyond nailing the desired sound, J also paid attention to producer and customer feedback. After playing a lot of uptempo, Afro-Cuban style drum patterns on Guerilla Breaks, he opted to slow things down and simplify them on Break Bonanza. He also noted the popularity of Roc Marciano-style drumless beats and made sure to play patterns that could work as accents instead of the focal point of the beat. “In order to do that, you gotta learn how to play dynamically,” he says. “You gotta do drums that don't sound like standard breaks. They just sound like something really subtle that you would put behind a sample to push it along.”
Employees have the right to take a "net" 10-minute rest break. This means employees should be taking their rest breaks near the middle of each four-hour work period, if possible, in a place away from the work area.
Do employees tend to start their day a few minutes before their shift begins? Does this lead them to clock out for lunch after their fifth hour of work ends? Benyamini recommends creating a buffer of at least 10 or 15 minutes so employees don't bump up against the clock.
The California Supreme Court has said that employers must provide breaks, relieve employees of their duties during those periods and be sure not to interfere with workers' ability to take breaks. However, employers aren't required to police employees to ensure that no work is performed during that time.
So what happens when employees don't receive compliant breaks? They are entitled to one hour of pay for each day a rest-period rule was violated and one hour of pay for each day a meal-period rule wasn't followed. That means workers can receive up to two hours of premium pay per day.
He noted that employees who work between 10 and 12 hours generally don't want to stick around for their second meal period, so they may also sign a voluntary waiver for that second meal period if they meet the requirements. Remind them in the waiver, too, that they are still entitled to three rest breaks during their shift.
Employers should audit their systems for meal and rest break compliance to find out if and why there are violations, Mills added. Depending on the type of violation, companies should pay workers the premium when their breaks are missed, interrupted or otherwise noncompliant and should have separate codes for these payments in their payroll system.
However, research has found that taking a break can be very beneficial for you and your work. Micro-breaks, lunchtime breaks and longer breaks, have all been shown to have a positive relationship with wellbeing and productivity. By taking regular breaks you can boost your performance.
Although taking short breaks throughout the working day may not have as obvious an impact as taking a holiday, research has found significant benefits. Studies have found that breaks can reduce or prevent stress, help to maintain performance throughout the day and reduce the need for a long recovery at the end of the day [1]; [2]. A study by Korpela, Kinnunen, Geurts, de Bloom and Sianoja (2016) [3] found that taking lunchtime breaks and detaching from work, increases levels of energy at work and decreases exhaustion. Furthermore, one year later it was found to increase vigor and increase energy levels over time.
Relaxing and social breaks have been found to be particularly beneficial. A relaxing break can help to facilitate recovery, by returning your mental and psychical functional systems to their baseline [4]. Additionally, a relaxing break can help to reset your mood, thereby promoting positive wellbeing and reducing stress [5].
Social breaks, such as chatting with your peers, have also been found to be beneficial. Social interactions allow you to share your experiences and feel part of a group. This feeling of relatedness, during a social break shows a positive association with feeling recovered after the break [6].
Taking breaks has been shown to be important in recovering from stress [7], which can, in turn, improve your performance. Recovering from work stress can restore energy and mental resources and decrease the development of fatigue, sleep disorders and cardiovascular disease [2].
Kim, Park and Niu (2017) [8] research found it is important to take mini-breaks throughout the working day. Mini-breaks help to support your wellbeing and increase productivity. A mini-break is a few minutes away from your work; this may be chatting with someone who is in the room with you or getting a drink.

Normal trial hours run from approximately 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., with two fifteen minute breaks (one in the morning and the other in the afternoon) and an hour lunch. During a trial, the number of hours will vary each day. The trial judge will advise you when to leave and report back each day. Jury selection day (the first reporting day), however, often begins at 7 AM.
Please do not be late! It is extremely important to be prompt both in the morning and after lunch. Promptness is most important when serving on a trial since the entire proceeding will be delayed because of the tardiness of just one juror. Call the Jury Division at (303) 844-3924 should this become an issue.
Meals are not provided. You may bring your lunch if you wish; however, we do not have a refrigerator for your use. There are several restaurants located near the courthouse. If you are selected to serve on a jury, the judge will order meals be provided during the jury's deliberations.

Depending on the company and your role in the organization this may vary, but in general people tend to work only 8 hours in US. People go to work around 8 AM and take off from work at 4:30 PM. The additional 30 minutes is for lunch. Some companies have flexible hours option, they allow their employees to work at their convenient time. Some come in late may be around 10 AM and work till 6:30 PM. Some people like to work early, they come in at 6 AM and leave around 3 PM. The goal is to work 8 hours. Some companies are even more flexible, they let you work from home on few days a week. So, it entirely depends on the organizations. But, the key point is, people tend to work only 8 Hours. If you work more than 8 hours, then you ask for compensation off time, if you are full time employee or bill the client for extra hours if you are consultant (contractor). 2ff7e9595c
