Canon EOS M200 on the horizon: New mirrorless model could be a game-changer for Canon

If you're looking for cameras for astrophotography, you might ask what are the best models out there? The debate between DSLR vs mirrorless cameras is a fierce one with some people preferring the lighter, more portable cameras whereas others prefer the ever-reliable DSLR models. While there are some that have been modified specifically for astro use, having the IR filter removed. You can even get a dedicated Astro camera to connect to your telescope, but it wont do you much good anywhere else.

The changes are harder to track with cameras, because there are consumer cameras clouding the picture, as well as the fact that reliable public sales figures for specific camera models are hard to come by. But to me it seems like the standard mainstream camera right now is a full-frame, mid-line, 24-MP mirrorless.

Entry-level APS-C, like the Canon M50, makes sense. The body is priced significantly lower than FF. The lens selection isn't great, but the lenses are more compact and more affordable than FF. Canon reported strong sales of the M50, something they haven't said about any other model. In Japan (BCN) it's been the best selling mirrorless camera for a really long time. 2ff7e9595c
